Dear colleagues,

This page is essential for the official registration to the workshop. Please read carefully everything.

InvaPact III is going to be a very special workshop. First of all, because you will be there with us! Second, because – obviously – the amazing science that will be done there will only be equalled by the undescriptibly nice social atmosphere.

Third, because it will be massive. We will analysed an unparallel amount of data of the highest quality. The papers that can come out of our database are going to be many, and most of them have the potential to be foundational in our discipline in general, and in your specific area of expertise in particular. Our objective is that each these papers is better than the others. Yes, it is impossible, but we like impossible tasks.

In addition, the number of participants will be very high (more than 60), with more than 80 other colleagues having participated to previous workshops and still involved at various degrees. This means the organisation must be flawless. Fortunately, my team and I are flawless. Almost. I am a bit too modest, but that’s my only flaw. The others have no flaw at all.

Last, InvaPact III is going to be followed closely (two weeks later) by InvaPact IV! You can see all the information on this follow-up version on this page. InvaPact III and IV are both devoted to analysing data according to different questions in order to produce articles.

Although this makes the quality of the InvaPact project even higher, it comes with a number of organisational challenges. The two most difficult for us are (i) avoid creating two parallel groups, but instead encourage exchanges, and in particular the inclusion of researchers of both communities in most projects, even if they won’t have their workshop at the same time; (ii) minimise overlaps of topics and intra-InvaPact competition for the studies we will generate.

This last point is crucial – and thorny – because there will be in the two groups several scientists working on similar topics, and in particular on similar taxa. It is quite possible that several research groups will wish to be first authors of, say the paper on the ecological impacts of invasive insects in world forests. Or of invasive freswater fish. Or of invasions in Canada. Etc, you get the idea.

Also, there will be papers that are not descriptive but rather hypothesis-based or conceptual and there lie other opportunity for first aurthorship.

So, in order to satisfy the largest number of participants with their first authorship, we need to know you topics of interest. You are thus invited to provide us with this information as soon as possible, in the registration form below. This is also important because we will take the opportunity to collect all important information that we need for a smooth workshop, such as diet restrictions, requirements for invitation letters, image reproduction right, and so on.

Please note that your registration will be considered complete when you have sent us the completed Registration Google Form. Before that, you are just wandering in limbo between two world…
